() n the surface, Todd Weiss had a good foot-
ball season in 1998. The junior tailback ran
80 times for 563 yards for an excellent aver-
age of seven yards per carry. He also played
well enough to draw some attention from Division I
colleges such as Central, Western and Eastern
Michigan.

But the season could have been better. He was slowed by a variety of
injuries, missing a series here and a quarter there throughout the first seven
games before a foot injury ended his season two games early.
Weiss downplays his injuries. "Little injuries you should be able to play
over," he says. But he admits that last season's string of hurts "was very frus-
trating." At times his injuries made him feel "exhausted. Tired sometimes.
.
Not wanting to play."
