Israel Bonds Honors Weisbergs

State of Israel Bonds will honor Lucille
and Harvey Weisberg 6 p.m. Thursday,
Oct. 14, at Tam O'Shanter Country
Club in West
Bloomfield.
The event will
mark the club's 25th
annual dinner and
the Weisbergs' 25th
anniversary of club
membership. "The
club is again proud
that one of its out-
standing members is
to be honored by
Israel Bonds, a direct
arm of the State of
Israel," said Gary
Lucille and Harvey
Cohen, Tam presi-
dent.
The Weisbergs will receive the State
of Israel City of Peace Award in recogni-
tion of their leadership in the Jewish
community and their support of Israel.
Harvey Weisberg has supported the
Israel Bonds campaign since its incep-
tion. He is a past president of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek and a
member of the board of trustees since
1961, A long-time supporter of B'nai
B'rith and the Anti-Defamation League,
he's an honorary ADL national commis-
sioner for life and an ADL Michigan
regional board member. He's also a
board member of the Center for the
Study of the Child and of the American-
Israel Chamber of Commerce.
Locally, Harvey Weisberg chaired the
Food Division of Federation's Annual
Campaign and the broadcast division of
the Jewish Community Council. He
was president of the Henry Morgenthau
Lodge of B'nai B'rith, and has served on
the boards of the Jewish Federation,
United Jewish Charities, Hillel Day
School and United Hebrew Schools.
Now retired, Weisberg was formerly
vice chair of Chatham Super Markets
Inc. Currently, he's general partner of
HLW Associates Limited Partnership, a
consultant company for business and
industry.
Active at Shaarey Zedek like her hus-
band, Lucille Weisberg is a former edu-
cator who changed careers after moving
to Southfield, dedicating herself to vol-
unteer involvement. She has served on
the boards of B'nai B'rith Women (now
Jewish Women International),
Hadassah, Brandeis University Women's
Committee and the League of Jewish
Women. She chaired Israel Bonds on
behalf of Jewish Women

International/Morgenthau Chapter for
20 years, and serves on the boards of the
Detroit Women's Division of Israel
Bonds and Jewish
Family Service. She
chairs the first day of
the local Brandeis
University book sale,
held yearly at Tel-12
Mall.
Hadassah honored
her as its Woman of
the Year, an award
presented by Israel's
Leah Rabin, and JWI
also recognized
Weisberg for her years
of dedication.
Other beneficiaries
Weisberg
of her involvement
have been Women's American ORT, the
National Council of Jewish Women and
Federation's Annual Campaign.
Weisberg has taught English to Russian
immigrants at the Jewish Community
Center and she's been a docent since
1983 at the Holocaust Memorial
Center.
