DIANA LIEBERMAN Staff Writer V andals overturned 24 gravestones in a Jewish cemetery in Inkster just before Rosh HaShana, but no one investigat- ing the vandalism is willing to label the incident anti-Semitic. The vandalism took place at Westwood Cemetery, located on Michigan Avenue between Beech Daly and John Daly. It most likely occurred sometime between Tuesday, Sept. 7, and 9/24 1999 14 Detroit Jewish News Wednesday, Sept. 8, said cemetery administrator Rabbi Moshe Zaklikofsky of the Mishkan Israel Nusach H'ari Lubavitcher Center in Oak Park. The Inkster Police Department is investigating and has stepped up patrols in the area, said Detective Paul Martin. Only two or three of the headstones appear to be damaged, Martin said. Further damage may be visible once the stones are righted. "It appears that someone went through knocking over the stones with their shoulder," Martin said.
