Wendy Kohlenberg helped organize
Hadassahs opening meeting.

Community House. The fashion show
and dining extravaganza will benefit
Beaumont Hospital's Pediatric Cancer
Survivor's Scholarship Fund. The corn-
mirtee held a recent kick-off party at
Forte restaurant in Birmingham.
Debbie and Richard Astrein are part
of the co-chairmen committee. Some
of the people spotted in the crowd
included Mark Keller, Julie Yolles,
Jayme Leib, Marj Levin, Peter Burton
and Rhonda Cohen. Tickets are avail-

including Astrein's Creative Jewelers,

ZOA Award
Rabbi Daniel B. Syme -of Temple
Beth El is the recipient of the Zionist
Organization of America's Justice
Louis D. Brandeis Award. A reception
was recently held at the home of
Norman and Harriet Rotter in
Bingham Farms. The evening also
included a piano solo by David Syme.
Rotter reported that Rabbi Syme gave
a speech that "moved the audience."

Peace Through Art
"Learning Peace through Science
and Art," a fund-raising event for the
Lillian Genser Peace through Art pro-
grams housed at Wayne State
University, will be held 4 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Birmingham
Bloomfield Art Center in
Birmingham. Children will take part
in hands-on interactive activities
including yoga, conflict resolution
and a puppet show called Mars Rock.
The puppet show is based on the play
The Moon Belongs to Everyone by
Lillian Genser. Gail Mondry, aerobic
program director of the Franklin
Fitness and Racquet Club, organized
the event. Some of the committee
members include Carol Ziecik, Janet
Stein, Linda Sircus, Michelle Zeid,
Cindy Kriger, Ronna Levine and
Pam Balbles. Tickets are $25, which
also includes yoga and dinner. For
