osh HaShana. The name (liter-
ally meaning "head of the year"
in Hebrew) triggers thoughts of
beginning anew. The Jewish
New Year is a time for reflection and self-
evaluation, contrary to the self-based,
weight loss and exercise-related announce-
ments typically associated with the calen-
dar turning Jan. 1.
As we near our new year 5760, some
folks enjoying the recent Apples and
Honey and Lots, Lots More event at the
Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit in West Bloomfield
shared their decisions, resolves, hopes and
determinations for the coming year. ❑
Rabbi Herschel Finman of Oak Park,
director ofEducational Outreach for the
Lubavitch Foundation, hopes to "be
more sensitive to others --- before I say
something to somebody think how will
it affect- this person --- and also to be
more sensitive to the Spirituality which is
abounding about us. ,,
