with his family to Southfield a year
ago from Philadelphia. "We are quite

Nadel said he was adamant that he
wanted his children in a quality,
Zionist-based day school, with high
academic standards.
"Schooling was a major factor in
where we decided to live," he said. "If
it hadn't been for Akiva, we would
probably have moved to West
Bloomfield."
Ernest and Judy Greenfield made
the same choice when they relocated
from the Toronto area this summer.
The Nadel and Greenfield families
both have very young children, rang-
ing from nursery school age through
second grade, and the parents said
they have been more than satisfied
with both the academic program and
the teaching staff involving their
grades.
The school gets an unqualified
thumbs-up from Rita Schreiber, whose
four grown children are all Akiva
graduates.
"It gives an excellent academic edu-
cation while enhancing their belief in
God," she said.
Schreiber's daughter now is princi-
pal of an Orthodox day school in
Chicago, while one of her sons, Avy, is
a member of the singing group
Beat'achon, which performed at Akiva
later Monday night.
"I was excited when they moved
from Oak Park to Lathrup Village,"
she said. "Now, with this beautiful
new building, I'm excited all over
again.''
