"I thought it was a fantastic way to end my Maccabi experience," said Jill Gold, a senior at North Farmington High School. Gold and her best friend Adrienne Zuckerman, another 17-year-old Maccabi participant who is a senior at Bloomfield Hills Andover High, host- ed some of Houston's 17-year-old athletes last weekend. Now they are discussing running a program for the 17-year-olds next year. "We started planning for them corn- ing four days after we got home," Gold said. "We were going through serious withdrawal after the games." E JCC lElolds Hoop Tourney The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit will hold its first three-on-three basketball tourna- ment for all ages on Sunday, Oct. 17, at the D. Dan & Betty Kahn Building of the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield. Registration begins at 7 a.m. Games begin at 8 a.m. The tournament will be held in the main gym, the auxiliary gym and the Edward and Shirley Rosenberg Recreation Complex. Registration forms are available at the front desks and the sports and recre- ation desks at the JCC's Jimmy Prentis Morris and D. Dan & Betty Kahn buildings. Cost of registration per four-per- son team is $60 for JCC members; $80 for non-members. All team play- ers must be members of the JCC to receive team member rates. Deadline for registration is Oct. 10. Male and female teams may enter. Boys and men will compete in the following divisions: boys 10 and younger, 12 and younger, 14 and younger, 16 and younger, 18 and younger; men 19-24, 25-30, 30-34, 35 and up. Girls and women will compete as follows: girls grades 3-5, 6 8, 9 12; women 19 and up.
