"I'm very concerned that elderly Jewish people should get
at least one good kosher meal daily, so I volunteered here to make sure they do," he says.
"The best 'doctoring' these people can get is to eat the wonderful meals and attend the
excellent music and lecture programs here. For at least a few hours a day, they get away
from their aches and pains."
Lou was widowed in 1997, when his wife Belle died after nearly 67 years of marriage.
He retired from sales in 1979. Other volunteer jobs included running a Boblo boat trip
program for seniors and as an usher at Temple Beth El.
"Since I have a lot of time now, I want to help the community as much as I can. I still
drive my own car and I'm always on the go."
