ay stopped working to have
the time to be a grandmoth-
er. She had never volunteered
before, but she and a girlfriend
offered to deliver kosher Meals on
Wheels through the National
Council of Jewish Women.
"I just liked it and stayed with it.
After all, I have the time; there's no
reason I shouldn't help," says Fay,
who's been involved now for more
than 20 years. "I like talking to
people and I feel real good about
providing this service."

"It's a great way
to make friends."
Although she's participated in all
facets of the program over the years,
Fay now serves as a day chair. Thurs-
day is her day to make sure everything
runs smoothly.
"Thursday is fish day and that's a
hard sell," she admits. "We think the
food is good, but some clients do
complain.
It's all in a Thursday's work for Fay,
who says she hopes to continue the
volunteer work for a good while.
"I absolutely feel I'm doing a mitz-
vah," she says. "Someone should do it."
