In celebration of Labor Day, and
following the annual downtown
Detroit Labor Day Parade at 10 a.m.,
is Laborfest, sponsored by Michigan's
unions and running 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 6, at Woodward and
Monroe in downtown Detroit. The
event offers exhibits, children's activi-
ties, a hot air balloon, food and a free
concert. Headlining is Nashville
singer/songwriter and recording artist
Steve Earle, playing rock with a pro-
gressive beat. The entertainment also
includes The Latin Counts, Mosaic
Youth Singers, Voices of Solidarity,
Matrix Theatre Co. cast of Rats and
