School in Farmington Hills. He loves
sports, math and social studies. He
participates in competitive baseball,
track, basketball and tennis. He
enjoyed participating in JARC pro-
grams. He also has a love for Camp
Ramah in Canada and Israel.

Sarah Elizabeth Hutton will celebrate
her bat mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Friday, Sept. 3. She is
the daughter of
Shelley and Dr.
Lenny Hutton and
sister of Michelle,
Rachel and Morry.
Proud grandparents
are Rita and Dr. Jack
Portney. She is also
the grandchild of the
late Shirley and D:. Morris Hutton.
Her most meaningful mitzvah pro-
ject was donating to JARC in memo-
,sy of her uncle; she also volunteered
at Yad Ezra and for the Temple Israel
picnic. An honor student at West
Hills Middle School in Bloomfield
Hills, Sarah is involved in student
government, drama, basketball,
cer, forensics, dancing and choir.

Samantha Beth Kroll will become a
bat mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Saturday, Sept. 4. She is the daughter
of Helene and
Ronald Kroll and
sister of Joshua and
Jacob. Excited
grandparents are
Pearl Blazofksy
Morgan, Renee
Hoffman and
Barbara and Albert
Kroll.
Attending Orchard Lake Middle
School in West Bloomfield, Samantha
competes in dance, tap, jazz and ballet;
she also enjoys swimming. Her most
meaningful mitzvah project was donat-
ing to the fight against AI DS; she also
volunteered at Yad Ezra and babysat at
Temple Israel during services.

Jordan Chase Maroko will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Sept. 4,
at Temple Israel.
He is the son of
Beth and Eli
Maroko and broth-
er of Alex and
Abby. Excited
grandparents are
Judith and Martin
Herman and Ruth
and Dr. Simon Maroko.
Entertaining the residents at
Fleischman Residence was his most
meaningful mitzvah project. An
honor roll student at Orchard Lake
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
Jordan is interested in golf, playing
the drums, listening to music,
singing and playing tackle football.

Jessica Brooke Newman will be
called to the Torah at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek as a
bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Sept. 4.
She is the daughter
of Merle and
Melvyn Newman of
West Bloomfield.
Her grandparents
are Eva and David
Sefansky and
Joseph Newman. She is also the
granddaughter of the late Minnie
Newman.
Her brother Matthew will partic-
ipate in the ceremony in addition to
her parents and grandparents.
Jessica attends Orchard Lake
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
where she is an honor student and
plays clarinet in the symphony
band. She is also a creative writer,
plays piano, dances and plays soft-
ball.
Her mitzvah projects include
working as a classroom aide at the
synagogue and participating in a
doll project for Alyn Hospital. She
also will make a tzedaka contribu-
tion to Yad Ezra.
