Beth Achim building on Monday, Sept. 6. The Torah procession begins at 12:45 p.m. at the Agency for Jewish Education building at 21550 W 12 Mile Road, east of Lahser, and heads to Akiva, 21100 W 12 Mile. Music and dancing in the new building will follow. The free festivities, open to the pub- lic, then continue unitil 3:30 p.m. with children's activities and refreshments and the grand opening of the newly con- structed Akiva playground. Last year, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit purchased the for- mer synagogue building for Akiva with the proviso that the school would raise the money needed to renovate and maintain it.
