But there are big advantages, as the premier online bookstore Amazon.com has demonstrat- ed. The Web site offers extensive reviews, and places for buyers to post their own comments — the opinions of ordinary readers, not obscure literature professors. And Amazon has a great feature called "people who bought this also bought...," which may expand your reading list. Amazon.com sells lots of Jewish books, but it's not exactly a specialty, and it's easy to get lost browsing the site's multi-layered pages. For more specific browsing, check out the My Jewish Books online bookstore — sort of a Jewish front end for Amazon. _ The idea here is to offer visitors just books with Jewish content, with enough information about each to help you make intelligent choices. If you want to buy something, a click will take you -to the correct place on Amazon. The site opens with a summer read- ing list that covers the gamut: novels, memoirs, Jewish self-help and spiritual books, even New York Times columnist Tom Friedman's excellent tome on global economics. "Ofrah's Book Club" offers more recommendations, complete with long descriptions of each book. Unfortunately, there is some duplica- tion with the summer reading list, but let's not quibble. Then there are a handful of cate- gories: novels, cookbooks, Jewish mys- teries and science fiction, bios and the blaringly titled "Jewish SEX."
