Bar/Bat 'Mitzvah

Michelle Neff will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Aug. 28, at
Congregation B'nai
Moshe. Michelle is
the daughter of
Howard and Beth
Neff and the sister
of Andrew and
Alissa. Proud
grandparents are
Gerald and Rita
Neff and Howard
and Ruth Bayer. Great-grandparents
are Herman and Dorothy Kazdan
and Helen Siegel.
Michelle is an honor student at
Dunckel Middle School in
Farmington Hills. She enjoys soft-
ball, tennis, skiing and playing the
violin. For her mitzvah project, she
is visiting with the elderly and will
donate to various children's organi-
zations.

Laura Rebekah Noveck will become
a bat mitzvah at Havdala services on
Saturday, Aug. 28,
at Temple Israel.
She is the daughter
of Dr. Martin and
Julia Noveck and
Susan and Edward
Bliznick and sister
of Jacob and
Samuel. Proud
grandparents are
Fima and France Noveck and Regina
Jabour; she is also the grandchild of
the late Sylvia Case and the late
Abraham Jabour.
Her most meaningful mitzvah
involved donating food to a food
bank. A student at Clarkston Middle
School, where she plays flute in the
band, Laura enjoys horseback riding
and vaulting on horseback.

Katie Marie Rosen will become a
bat mitzvah on Friday, Aug. 27, at
Temple Kol Ami.
She is the.daughter
of Robin and Roy
Rosen of
Farmington Hills.
Katie has two sis-
ters, Karen and
Kelli, and a broth-
er, Corey. Proud.
grandparents are
Evelyn and Fred Rosen of West
Bloomfield and Adele and Harold
Samuels of Southfield.
Katie is an honor student at
Warner Middle School in

Farmington Hills, where she is a
peer mediation officer, participates
in choir and sports and assists with
physically challenged students. Katie
has become an active member of the
Daniel Sobel Friendship Circle and
intends to continue this meaningful
work. She has also volunteered, and
will continue to do so, for many
other temple and community social
action projects.

David Benjamin Silver (Dovid) will
celebrate his bar mitzvah at Temple
Israel on Friday,
Aug. 27. He is the
son of Debbie and
Joseph Silver and
grandchild of Joyce
and Dr. Jack
Morof.
Grandparents of
blessed memory are
the late Esther and
David Silver.
Among his mitzvah projects, he
donated stuffed animals, gloves and
scarves to the Denby orphanage; and
he plays flute in the Temple Beth El
Kids Klez band, which entertains var-
ious groups in the Jewish community.
His most meaningful project was
donating to the Wheelchair Hockey
League for young players. A student
at West Hills Middle School in
Bloomfield Hills, where he plays flute
in the jazz band, David is a member
of the Bloomfield Hills Travel Soccer
ream and enjoys bowling, fishing,
travel and playing the piano.

Sam B. Surnow (Shalom) will
celebrate his bar mitzvah on Friday,
Aug. 27, at Temple
Israel. He is the son
of Elaine and
Jeffrey Surnow and
brother of Lisa and
Max. Proud grand-
parents are Blanche
and Benjamin
Brant, Pearl
Surnow and
Marilyn Surnow. He is also the
grandson of the late Jack Surnow.
His most meaningful mitzvah
project involved volunteering for
SCAMP, working with physically
and mentally challenged children. A
Birmingham Berkshire Middle
School student, Sam likes to water
ski, scuba dive, play basketball and
use the computer.

Pamela Weinberg (P'nina) will
become a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Aug. 28, at Temple Israel. She is the
