VIOLET KORN, 86, of West
Bloomfield, died August 23.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Salo and Sue Korn of
West Bloomfield; brother Robert Smith
of Florida; sister Ann Bernstein of West
Bloomfield; grandchildren Adam Korn,
Emily Korn.
Mrs. Korn was the beloved wife of
the late Leo Max Korn.
Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice. Services and
interment were at Hebrew Memorial
Park. Arrangements by Hebrew
Memorial Chapel.
MARK I. LEACH, 49, of Anaheim,
Calif., died Aug. 17. Mr. Leach was
an attorney, loan officer and mort-
gage broker.
He is survived by his daughter and
son-in-law, Amy and Michael Demeter
of Westland; grandson Jacob R.
Demeter; father Saul M. Leach of West
Bloomfield; brothers and sisters-in-law
Dr. Harold and Suzie Leach of
Farmington Hills, Ronald and Debra
Leach of Raleigh, N.C.; David Leach of
West Bloomfield.
Mr. Leach was the loving son of the
late Rosalee A. Leach and the dear
brother of the late Allan Leach.
Interment was at Machpelah
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
to the Lupus Foundation.

WILLIAM SCHNEIDER, 85, of
Bloomfield Hills, died Aug. 19. He was a
retired revenue officer with the IRS and (-\
was active in the Institute for Retired
Professionals, the Knights of Pythias and
Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
He is survived by his son and daugh-
ter-in-law Jerold and Lesley Schneider of
Bethesda, Md., grandchildren Aaron,
Julie, Stephanie and Stuart; great-grand-
daughter Sydney; brother Morris of
Florida.
Mr. Schneider was the beloved hus-
band of the late Dorothy Schneider.
Interment was in New Jersey.

Hebrew Home of Greater Washington.
RUTH MONHEIT, 71, of Commerce
Township, died Aug. 18. Mrs. Monheit
was a member of B'nai B'rith.
She is survived by her husband, Max
Monheit; daughters and sons-in-law
Marilyn Kellman of Novi, Nina
Kellman and Zachary Bregman of New
York, Julie and Ronny Mintz of New
York, Dawn Kellman of New York, Joan
Monheit of California, Patricia Monheit
of Colorado; brother and sister-in-law
Jack and Evelyn Goren of Southfield;
sister and brother-in-law Diana and
Morris Bensman of West Bloomfield.
Interment was at Machpelah
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
to the Karmanos Cancer Institute.

LOIS PAYNE, 86, of Chicago, died
Aug. 24. For many years, Ms. Payne was
the director for the women's division of
the Chicago United Jewish Appeal.
She is survived by her nephew, Ira
Briskman of Palm Beach, Fla. and
grandnieces, Anna R. and Emily
Briskman.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Arrangements by the Ira
Kaufman Chapel.
SHIRLEY BENJAMIN SILVERMAN,
86, of Southfield, died August 23. She
was a member of Louis Marshall
Chapter B'nai Brith and a volunteer at
the Sinai Women's Guild.
She is survived by her daughters and
sons-in-law, Laena and Sheldon Hoenig
of Southfield, Audrey and Bill Fine of
West Bloomfield; sister and brother-in-
law Bertha Albert (jack) Feldman of
Farmington Hills; grandchildren Shari
(Stephan Moore) Hoenig, Lori Hoenig,

Allen (Susan) Fine, Terri Fine, Mark
(Marji) Fine.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Max M. Silverman and the late Reuben
I. Benjamin; sister of the late Jean Brose
and Betty Pacernick.
Chapel services and interment were
at Adat Shalom Cemetery.
