etroit's Maccabi in-line hockey
team lost the sport's first gold
medal game in Pittsburgh two
years ago, but got some revenge

last year in Detroit, winning .a tightly fought
tournament.
Last week, the team made sure that the trip
to a second straight gold wasn't going to be
close, winning all 10 games by a combined
score of 71-7. It shut out opponents in seven
matches during the JCC Maccabi Games in

Cherry Hill, N.J. It won the gold over Los
Angeles 8 0, evoking the mercy rule and
avenging the overtime loss two years ago in
Pittsburgh.
Last year's gold medal game ended with
police having to escort Detroit and Mid-Island
Y (N.Y.) players out of the hockey venue after
