give up pushing or changing things,"
says Gary, "because the bottom line is
satisfying customers.
This he and his Stir Crazy Café is
doing with successful results.
BETTE SCHWARTZ is responsi-
ble for the Grandma's Minestrone
Soup ... and Rona Rones for the
Mom's Chicken Noodle Soup ... Both
soups are at the new Intelligent
Chicken that has opened on
Northwestern Hwy., between
Middlebelt and 14 Mile.
But Bette's grandson, and Rona's
son, Todd Rones, is the young man
accountable for a restaurant concept
that has all the makings of success.
Almost everything at Intelligent
Chicken is chicken oriented ... sand-
wiches, entrees, salads and even breasts
and nuggets for youngsters, who Todd
calls Chickadees on a special sector of
his menu ... Only thing other than side
dishes and Bette's soup that is not
chicken related is a Big Bird Burger,
Organic Food's ostrich burger ... Seating
is for about 40, plus carry-out and
delivery at the totally revamped former
location of Brother's Bagels.
THE BIG NEWS parade continues
for Matt Prentice and his Unique
Restaurant Corporation ... with the
consulting agreement signed for Deli
Unique to be one of four restaurants
opening at the new MotorCity Casino.
The 2,500-square-foot MotorCity
Deli Unique will seat about 150 in a
seven-day, 24-hour setup.
NEVER KNOW WHAT you
might find ... priceless collector's items
included ... or maybe something
you've always wanted to read, but
couldn't find anywhere.
It's the 39th Annual Brandeis Book
Sale that so many people wait for each
year ... now going on through Aug. 25
... open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-
Saturday; noon-5 p.m. Sunday ... at
Tel-12 Mall, 12 and Telegraph ... No
admission charge.
Volunteers with Detroit Chapter of
Brandeis University National Women's
Committee have collected over
120,000 books, magazines, records
and other items since last year.
Whatever is left Tuesday and
Wednesday, Aug. 24-25, will be
reduced in price by 50 percent ... If
you're a gambler that the goodies will
still be available, go for it ... But might
be a better idea not to take chances
that what you've been looking for, or
something like a collector's item, is
still available.
