Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Former Detroiters, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff
Pearl (Erica Herman) of Issaquah,
Wash. Are pleased to announce that
their daughter, Rachel Elyse (Ghana
Chaya) will become a bat mitzvah at
Temple B'nai Torah in Bellevue,
Wash., on Saturday, August 21.
Rachel's sister, Eliana will participate
in the ceremony. Among the proud
relatives are grandparents Don and

Cy and Audrey

Bloomfield, Stan
Herman of
Southfield, and
great-grandmother
Bertha Katt, also of
Southfield.
Rachel is
involved in musical theater. Her
mitzvah projects included working as
a junior facilitator for SibShops, a
supportive workshop program for
children with siblings who have ter-
minal or chronic physical or mental
disabilities, as well as forming a sup-
port group for teens with similar
issues. Rachel will also be participar-
ing in the temple's Shomrim pro-
gram, as both a classroom assistant
and music specialist.
