the Detroit-born Goldstein moved to
Israel in 1970. He became a social
worker and rehabilitation counselor for
the Ministry of Social Welfare in Haifa,
Acre and Tiberias. He also enrolled in
the graduate-level vocational rehabilita-

Haifa University, Goldstein came here
with his wife to join the B'nai B'rith
Foundation in Southfield.
Goldstein became a regional director
for Bar-Ilan in 1979. He's now cele-
brating 20 years with the university.
Growing up in Oak Park, the 51-
year-old Goldstein graduated from
Berkley High School in 1968. His
parents, Alfred and the late Elizabeth

other Jewish academic institutions,
including Detroit-area day and con-
gregational schools.
Another goal is "to become more
organizational and systematic," he said.
With an active board already in place,
the Detroit Friends group has been
making a greater
fund-raising effort.

commitment with Bar-Ilan." He
called himself, "committed to acade-

Jewish knowledge and to the welfare
of the Jewish community." El
