JCC Offering Week's Membership `-, Apples and Honey on Sunday, Aug. 29, marks the start of the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit's one-week membership special. People who have not been an annual JCC member in the past year may sign up between Aug. 29 and Sept. 5, to get membership special offers of up to 30 percent off current membership rates. Family and individual memberships are available, with special rates for teens and people having special needs. General members have the use of the indoor and outdoor pools, tracks, gyms, softball field, Olympic weight room and courts for racquetball, squash, walleyball and tennis. JCC members pay discount- ed rates for classes, cultural events, sum- mer camp and childcare. Babysitting also is available at a charge to general and health club members. In addition to the fitness facilities, health club members are entitled to use the high-tech fitness center with state-of- the-art exercise equipment, steam and sauna rooms, whirlpools, permanent individualized lockers, free laundry and towel service, cosmetic and shave rooms, outdoor or private solarium and TV lounge areas. Manicurist, barbershop and massage services are available at a fee. Health Club members' children age 5 and younger receive a free general membership. A senior social individual member- ship is available to adults age 65 and up; for couples, at least one member must be 65. Basic Beliefs Class Set The Rabbi Max Weine Institute for Judaism will begin its fall semester Tuesday, Sept. 7. A course in basic Jewish beliefs will be taught by Rabbi David Nelson and Alicia Nelson from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. every Tuesday at Congregation Beth Shalom.
