The Franklin Slammers, managed by Brian Cahill and coached by Brenda Burkhardt, Lou Elkus and Rob Kaplan, won the Millington and Clio Girls 10-under fast-pitch softball tournaments the weekends of July 10 and 17. The team, made up of three players from the Franklin League and 11 players from the North Farmington-West Bloomfield League, had three weeks to practice together before the first tournament in Millington, Mich. A come-from-behind win against Northville in extra innings gave the Franklin Slammers the championship at Millington. Then in Clio, outstanding pitching and a triple play against Grand Blanc in the championship game brought home back-to-back tournament wins for the Slammers. • Senior Discounts SOUTH AMERICA • EUROPE • ALASKA • PANAMA CANAL • CARIBBEAN Cad tic for AU yoto travel mods! 1-800-343-8970 http://www.allaboutcruises.com • CD or IRA Maturing? 14.1% Return on Capital Monthly Income Provided Call Now For Information, No Obligation GLC Associates Financial Services Phone: 1-888-908-0300 8/20 1999 Detroit Jewish News 109
