ccording to Jewish tradition,
Rosh HaShana and Yom
Kippur do not exist in a vacu-
um but are rather the culmi-
nation of an intense process of reflec-
tion, study and self-evaluation that
occurs during the month of Elul."
With these considerations, Nancy
Kaplan, program coordinator of Eilu
v' Eilu, announced the start of a
community-wide adult education
series. It is being offered as a prelude
to the High Holidays, which start

with Rosh HaShana on the evening
of Friday, Sept. 10.
"During the four weeks leading up
to Rosh HaShana, the Jewish people,
individually and communal-
ly, are called up to examine
our lives and prepare our
hearts for the Days of Awe,"
Kaplan said.
The Eilu v' Eilu series,
"Elul: A Time to Prepare,"
offers courses with spiritual
themes, including self-
examination, holiday cus-
toms, repentance, and
music and text study.
Taught by community
Jewish educators, the cours-
Nehama Glogower, right, leads discussion group.
es are open to
all adults,
regardless of

affiliation or
