Twenty years ago, his children created in his honor the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit Jerry and Debbie Glassman Transportation . Fund. JCC President Mort Plotnick said the purpose of the fund was to "offset ongo- ing costs of transportation provided by the Center for seniors." But Glassman, who Plotnick describes as someone 3) "who likes to have fun, wanted those involved with the fund to enjoy them- Sam Barnett and his orchestra supplied selves, too. And so began the tradition of the the entertainment. Glassman annual par- ties, celebrations held four to five times a year at the two JCC build- ings. The most recent was a July 29 "summer fling" held at the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Building of the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield. First-time partygo- ers, listening and danc- ing to the sounds of the Sam Barnett Orchestra, were sur- prised by the addition of a guest singer.
