Marilyn Wolfe, JCC Jewish Life and
Learning Department special events
coordinator. The hall's decorations had a
floral motif.
Sarah Blank, 78, one of the guests,
said she wasn't in a dancing mood, but

Glassman made
it his mission to
swing and twirl
and dip as many
of the ladies as
possible.

was enjoying the music and watching
the people.
But it wasn't easy to avoid the dance
floor, since Glassman made it his mis-
sion to swing and twirl and dip as many
of the ladies as possible. He said for
those with canes, he dances slower, while
those in wheelchairs receive a slide or a
spin.
Helen Husid was among the volun-
teers bustling and directing guests to
seats and setting up punch and desserts.
Recruited by her friend Marilyn Wolfe,
she said she'd spent the entire day in the
building. Husid moved from taking a
hydrotone class in the JCC's pool to the
party room, where she helped arrange
75 balloons into centerpiece clusters.
Door prizes included supermarket
certificates, ties and a terrycloth
robe. Each guest received a special
farewell gift.
Irving Pentelnik, 77, of Detroit,
attended the party with his wife,
Ethel, 74. He described their host,
Glassman, as a man who "gets a lot
out of the dances, giving, with no
ulterior motive."
And 200 parties later, the fun goes
on. Wolfe got the chance to do the
Charleston and the happy guests talked
and ate.
Sadie Maltzman, 87, of West
Bloomfield took a spin on the dance
floor with Glassman, exclaiming, "I
haven't-danced in 40 years." She worried
that she would step on his toes, but
Glassman wasn't concerned. Nothing
could stop the man who attends all of
the parties, dances with nearly every
woman, and quite probably has the
most fun of anyone there. Li
