LAWMAKERS the country over
have come out with some pretty odd-
ball laws regarding preparation, serv-
ing and consumption of food.
Strangely enough, sandwiched in
among the many senseless laws are a
few that would have brought loud
cheers from disgruntled citizens, if
only the rules had been enacted
nationally.
For instance, in Colorado Springs,
a waiter was subject to a fine if he
made an insulting remark to a cus-
tomer ... In Florida, there was a law
forbidding your neighbor to hire
away your cook ... In Gary, Ind.,
, it was against the law to ride any
streetcar or attend any theater
within four hours after eating
garlic ... There was a law in
Michigan saying that no peddler

bring out its beauty ... And in
Waterloo, Neb., bless them, bar-
bers were forbidden to eat onions
between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
LONG AGO, when many
people had a yen for some good
chili, they'd find out when Harry
Levenberg was having some at his
Anderson's Gardens and get over
there ... It was homemade at the
bar by Harry's wife, Ruth.
