The opening day in Houston
proved historic for Detroit's girls soft-
ball team, who played in 100-degree
Texas heat to win the first Maccabi
game since the last time the games
were held in Houston in 1995. Ellery
Diem and Hillary Goldin each tripled
in the 6-5 win over Baltimore, in
