Mrs. Betman was a former accoun- tant with the technical staff of the Internal Revenue Service. She was also a graduate of the Detroit Conservatory of Music. She taught music in her youth and performed for various organizations. Along with her mother, the late Gusty Singer, she organized and con- ducted the Mogen David unit of the Red Cross during World War II. Mrs. Betman was also a volunteer for the blood bank at the Romulus airfield. She was a former V.A.V.S. representative and volunteer at the Veterans hospital in Allen Park. She was a volunteer at Sinai Hospital and a member of the Guild. She was one of the first presidents of the Business and Professional Chapter of the B'nai Brith and held several offices in the early Friendship Group. Mrs. Betman is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Marilyn Betman of Oak Park, Anna and Allan Karden of Tamarac; grandchildren Belle Eilene Karden, Jacob Dov Karden. SHIRLEY BROIDA, 91, of Farmington Hills, died July 31.
