Registration for fall- classes is taking
place at the two buildings of the
Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit.
At the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Building in Oak Park, the classes start
the week of Aug. 30. In sports and
recreation, classes are offered for chil-
dren and adults including gymnastics,
in-line hockey, yoga, karate and a full
range of Red Cross swimming classes
for children and adults, ages 6
months through seniors. The Rock
Hoppers swim team meets Monday
through Thursday 4:30-6 p.m. and
Sunday 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Both buildings will hold the Hey
Mom, the Ball's in Your Court classes.
Open to children ages 3-12, the sports
and recreation program includes classes,
leagues and games. Older children can
enroll in the Kenny Goldman
Basketball league, in-line hockey league,
basketball class or others.
Special will be the NFL Flag
Football program, sponsored by Nike
and the National Football League.
Children will receive a tips book, a
certificate upon completion of the
program and a Detroit Lions jersey.

Some of the other adult class offer-
ings include spinning, tae boxing,
boot camp sports conditioning, step
aerobics, muscle jam, yoga and pool-
side stretch. Classes are offered to
JCC general and non-members with

The JCC will host a 10-hour
Thomas the Promise Kick Boxing certi-
fication 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8,
at the D. Dan & Betty Kahn Building
in West Bloomfield. The event is open
to instructors who are interested in
being certified to teach kick boxing.
Participants will learn how to teach
fundamental kick boxing movements
and to initiate a program.
Sign-in begins at 7:45 a.m. Cost is
