People like Dino the Tailor (Dino
Mitropoulos), tailor hereabouts in
Birmingham to the stars and promi-
nent folks, agrees whole-heartedly that
men_ and women both have gone too
far in being casual ... "There is such a
thing as being casual and dressed,
too," says Dino. - I have made clothes
for people who enjoy being dressed in
matching color schemes of their light-
weight sport jackets and pants. For
women, there are such things as stylish
pants and comfortable jackets to
march, if this is the look they want.
"Nowadays," says Dino, "it is total-
ly unnecessary for people to go to
restaurants or nightclubs -without
being dressed properly."
There are still some places that
require jackets, especially in New York,
California and Chicago ... Les Gruber,
at the former London Chop House,
was very adamant in his insistence that
men wear wore jackets ... If they came
Nvi tho Lir one, regardless of who they
were, or how much they spent, the per-
son would have to put on one of the
jackets Les had hanging up ... Those
who wouldn't wear one never got in.
FATHER AND SON make up the
weekly entertainment now at
Excalibur Restaurant, Franklin and
Northwestern Highway ... The Billy
Rose Quartet plays Tuesdays through
Fridays ... and his son's Gary Rose
Quarter is on Saturday evenings, with
Gary on guitar, Louie Marr, piano,
Rudy Golde, bass; and Billy's grand-
son, Ryan, drums.
CAN'T KEEP him out of the
restaurant business ... and so Boris
Greisdorf, former owner of Menlo's,
Basin Street, Bourbon Street and oth-
ers, is still at it ... He now has the
Lakeview Bar & Grill on. 13 Mile in
Novi ... People who have found out
about Boris having Lakeview are going
there and enjoying the 16-ounce New
York strip steak for $8.95 ... On
Fridays, his fish and chips dinners are
54.95.
PERSONALITY DEPT. ... As a
teen-ager, local actor Billy Felsenfeld
used to lip-synch Danny Kaye records
for family and friends ... During
World War II, as an aviation cadet in
pilot training, he performed for the
troops, armed with Danny Kaye
recordings ... But this wasn't his
entrance into show business ... It came
after the war when Billy Field was
booked into a little cocktail bar on
Fourth Street ... During his lip-synch
of "Figaro," a moth flew into his
mouth and out again ... One cus-
tomer, slightly in the bag, thought it
was great ... and asked him to do it
