Becomes Archivist

Leslie A. Gowan has been named to
the post of archivist of the Rabbi Leo
M. Franklin
Archive of Temple
Beth El.
The Detroit
native is a graduate
of Wayne State
University with a
master's of library
information science
degree and certifi-
cate in archival
Leslie Gowan
administration. She
has worked for the
General Motors Media Archives, the
Ford Motor Company Archives, the
Plymouth Historical Museum and
Henry Ford Museum.
The archive contains records of
the Detroit Jewish community from
1850 onward. It is open Monday
through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for
community use. Gowan can be
reached at (248) 851-1100.

Emanu-El
Installs Board

Temple Emanu-El recently installed
its new officers.
They are Beth Applebaum, presi-
dent; Bruce Gordon, Robert
Olender, Jennifer Wolin Patterson,
Debra Holzman Silver and Cathy
Lichtman, vice presidents; Barry
Silverstein, secretary-treasurer; Glenn
Liebowitz, immediate past president.
In addition, Jeffrey Bean, Howard
Collens, Elaine C. Driker, Jane
Hauser, Joseph ImberMan, Mark
Kaploe, Alan Kessler, Kevin Lewis,
Mitch Meisner, Arleen Miller,
Barbara Nurenberg, Steven Permut,
Arnold Portner, Jo Ann Rosen,
Richard Selik, Susan Sherbow,
Robert Weltman and Julie Zussman
were installed as trustees.
Also installed were Kim
Liebowitz, sisterhood president;
Sheldon Klein, brotherhood presi-
dent; Anne and Robert Olender,
Couple Club presidents; Walter
Stark, Emanu-El's Mature and
Exciting Set president; Matthew
Zerwekh, TEMTY youth group
president.
Acknowledged for service on last
year's board of trustees were Joel
Hearshen, William Hoffman, Arnold
Mikon, Howard Rosen and Richard
Zussman.
