Darchei Torah's 1999 eighth grade boys' graduation class.
The Agency for Jewish Education of
Metropolitan Detroit in Southfield was
the site of a two-school ceremony cele-
brating the graduation of 26 Yeshivas
Darchei Torah eighth-grade students.
Twenty-one boys and five girls
from the Southfield school received
diplomas on June 20 and 21, respec-
tively.
At both events, each student took
the opportunity to speak briefly on
subjects relating to their education.
Upholding a school tradition, one
eighth-grade parent also spoke to the
group. This year, Rabbi Yechiel Blitz,
a teacher at Yeshiva Gedolah in Oak
Park and father of graduate
Morchdechai Blitz, spoke to the boys,
while Elisheva Gordon's father, Rabbi
Eli Gordon, Hebrew and general stud-
ies teacher at Darchei Torah, spoke at
the girls' commencement.
Dr. Eliyahu Hurwitz, school presi-
dent, gave a welcoming address at
both graduations.
The boys also conducted a siyum
(conclusion of a learning session), led
by graduate Pinchus Leib Rushnawitz.
