Bofsky was born in Russian Poland in December 1865; he was a naturalized U.S. citizen. His wife Anna Bofsky was born in Michigan in July 1872. Their children were Mable (or Mabel), a daughter, born in Illinois in April 1892; Silvina (in the 1910 cen- sus she is shown as Sylvia), daughter, born in Illinois in April 1894; Frank (J. Frank in the 1910 census), son, born in Illinois in January 1896. The federal census of 1910 shows two other children: Milton, age 8, born in Michigan; Feiga, age not recorded, born in Michigan. The first listing for Abraham Bofsky in the Detroit City Directory is in the 1896 edition. His last listing appears in the 1915 edition. He worked as a manager of the Detroit Neckwear Company (Isaac Weinstein, proprietor). By at least 1905, he owned Michigan Neckwear Company. By at least 1914, he was in the real estate business. For a short while (circa 1914), his son J. Frank Bofsky owned the Home Rental Exchange. Frank's partner in the business was Arthur C. Cohen.
