Sari Cicurel

Scott Eisenberg

Three individuals have been honored
for their involvement and leadership
in the Jewish community.
Each of the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit award winners
has served as president of the Young
Adult Division (YAD).
Honorees and their awards are: Sari
Cicurel, Mark Family Young
Leadership Award; Scott Eisenberg,
Frank A. Wetsman Leadership Award;
and Suzan Folbe Curhan, Sylvia
Simon Greenberg Leadership Award.
Cicurel was YAD president for one
year and has been on Federation's
board of governors since 1997. She's a
vice chair for the Women's
Department VOICES, a participant in
the Volunteer Network and an Allied
Jewish Campaign volunteer, including
YAD campaign cabinet member, YAD
new gifts co-chair and YAD major
gifts solicitor.
Eisenberg was YAD president for
one year and has been on Federation's

Torah Center
Theater Night

Sara Tugman Bais Chabad Torah
Center will honor Dr. Allen and
Andrea Stawis at the 1999 Summer
Theater Night presentation of Twist
of Faith, an original musical play by
b.t. media of New York, on Monday,
July 26, at the Millennium Theater
in Southfield.
Dr. Stawis .is a hematologist
oncologist who practices at both St.
John Macomb and William
Beaumont hospitals and has been in
private practice for over two
decades. Mrs. Stawis is a social
worker and teacher and has been
involved in educating and counsel-
ing children for over 15 years. He
served as president of the Torah
Center and she as president of the

Suzan Folbe Curhan

board of directors since 1998. He
serves on the Max M. Fisher Jewish
Community Foundation and the
Federation Financial Operations
Committee. He's treasurer of Jewish
Vocational Service and former presi-
dent of the American-Israel Chamber
of Commerce.
The Sylvia Simon Greenberg
Leadership Award honors service to
the Jewish community on the part of a
young woman. Curhan is a Federation
board member, co-chair of the United
Jewish Appeal Young Leadership
Cabinet and 1994 recipient of the
Mark Family Young Leadership
Award.
She was YAD president from 1994-
1996. Her other leadership roles
include YAD centennial chair, mem-
ber of the Max M. Fisher Jewish
Community Foundation, member of
the Women's Department board, and
board member of Technion and Jew-:.,
Association for Residential Care.

Irnai David
Adult Choir

Congregation B'nai David, under
the direction of Cantor Ben-Zion
Lanxner, will form an adult choir
and is recruiting singers for Selichot
and High Holiday services.
Rehearsals will be held on
Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. at the
synagogue, 5642 West Maple Road,
West Bloomfield. The first perfor-
mance will be 11 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 4.
