Automobiles are useful, but to pave the
ancient Land of Israel with concrete for
—the Trans-Israel Highway that no one
needs, that is idolatry. The Temple was
destroyed by fire; will the Land be
destroyed with cement?

are you?) arose from the human race's
misuse of its new learning, its eating
from the Tree of Knowledge of
Distinctions and Divisions.
Can we stop short before the destruc-
tion itself is upon us, and learn to bring
a new way of life to birth before disaster?
That is what Tisha B'Av is there to teach
us: the danger and the possibility.
If we can accept that an old history is
dead, the history that brought us to this
brink of burning, then we can give new
life to a new world. We can move

Stadium Tour

The Jewish Historical Society of
Michigan will hold a "Field of
Dreams" tour of
Tiger Stadium,
Wednesday, July
28, beginning
with an 8 a.m.
breakfast buffet at
Temple Beth El.
Irwin "Mr.
Baseball" Cohen
will cover a cen-
tury of history
about the Tigers,
Tiger Stadium and Comerica Park,
including stories of the players, front
office, trades and insider information.
A bus will go to and from the stadi-
um, including a drive by the new
Comerica Park. The tour will be led
by Cohen and Detroit Tigers profes-
sional staff. The bus will return to
Beth El at 12:30 p.m.
