Oaldand County Circuit Court Judge
Hilda R. Gage will give an informal
talk over breakfast a: the next meeting
of the Jewish Federation's Cardozo Law
Society at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 15,
at the Max M. Fisher Building, 6735
Telegraph, Bloomfield Hills.
"Uncensored and Unplugged with
Judge Hilda R. Gage" is a program
for members of the legal profession
hosted by the Cardozo Law Society,
which provides community members
in the legal profession with Jewish
learning, involvement and network-
ing opportunities.
Gage was appointed by Gov. John
Engler to fill a vacancy on the
Michigan Court of Appeals in 1997.
She was elected in 1998. Previously,
Gage served as a judge in Oakland
County Circuit Court. She was the
first woman chair of the National
Conference of State Trial Judges
from 1986-1987.
David Haron is the Cardozo
Society chair. The breakfast is co-
sponsored by Tau Epsilon Rho Law
Society.

Jewish Family Service is recruiting vol-
unteers for the new JFS Shoppers Club,
matching volunteers who would like to
grocery shop with older adults and shut-
ins ‘vho may need assistance.
Club participants will shop once
every week or two, based on the needs
of the client. Volunteers may shop with L\
the client or by themselves.
Other volunteer opportunities at JFS
include:
* Special friends, a mentoring pro-
gram offering boys and girls the oppor-
tunity for one-to-one relationship with
an adult volunteer.
* Volunteer with new Americans to
serve as a conversational English tutor, a
citizenship coach or translator.
* Serve seniors as a visitor or social
activity volunteer at the Coville Assisted
Living Apartments.
* Office volunteers are needed to
schedule transportation for older adult
clients, assist in the meals on wheels
office, staff the Jewish resource line and
Elderlink phone lines and assist the
agency with filing and data entry.
JFS also relies on a dedicated corps of
professionals (attorneys, accountants,
physicians, dentists, etc.) who offer pro-
bono services to clients in need. For
