company going," Lenchner says.
_ Larry Rosenthal said he is pleased his
family's 100-year business has been able
to remain inside the city, although at
different locations. What started as
Rosenthal's Store Fixtures became
Detroit Store Fixture Company.
"We offer display cases, counters,
shelving, clothing racks and wall panel
systems," explained Rosenthal, president
of the firm launched by his grandfather
and great-uncle. "I was raised in the
business, which really started as a cabi-
net shop.
"The first location was in the heart of
downtown, between Jefferson and the
Detroit River, and it's been on Hastings
Street, Grand River and now on Eight
Mile near Livernois. It's nice to be recog-
nized by the museum for staying in
Detroit, and we take pride in being
around all these years." Pi

Press a button on the interactive video to
meet Abba Keidan, owner of the Keidan
Store on Gratiot Avenue from 1890 to
1926, whose story was re-enacted by an

story was taken from a journal kept by his
late daughter, Lillian Keidan Levin. The
- mini biography on the video refers to the
family's participation at the early Shaarey
Zedek on Congress and St. Antoine. Eight
interactive videos re-enact the stories of
eight Jewish immigrants, each with a dif-
ferent way of earning a living

Our My Window on the World'and, Once Upon

We provide them with activities in math, reading, science and music. And since young
children learn best through hands-on-experience, it's a good idea to involve their feet, too.
