Eilu v' Eilu, the cooperative adult Jewish
learning project of the Detroit
Conservative movement, has announce
a summertime Lane and Learning series
with Rabbi Aaron Bergman titled "The
Origins of Jewishness" on three Monday
mornings at 10 a.m. beginning July 5, at
Borders Books and Music, 30995
Orchard Lake Road, Farmington Hills.
The tuition fee is $12 for the series or
$5 per session. Advance registration is
not required. Walk-ins are welcome:
Borders invites all participants to enjoy a
complimentary 12-ounce coffee or tea
during each study session.

Hillel Students
Math Proficient

Hillel Day School students participated in a
mathematics contest called MATHFAX
with public, private and Catholic schools
) throughout the United States. The contest
consisted of four different "tests” at each
grade level. Each test consisted of 25 ques-
tions with a time limit of 30 minutes; the
use of calculators was prohibited.
Hillel's eighth-grade algebra students
placed first among all private schools
nationwide and first in Michigan com-
peting with all private, public and
Catholic schools.
seventh-graders placed second

among all schools participating in Michigan
and eighth nationwide among all private
schools. The fifth graders placed second
among all private, public and Catholic
schools in Michigan and fifth among all
those schools nationwide. Finally, the
fourth-grade students placed second in
Michigan among private, public and
Catholic schools and fifth among all private
schools nationwide.
