world has always been hard
for non-scholars to grasp
because of barriers of geogra-
phy, language and culture. But the
World Wide Web, with homepages rep-
resenting every imaginable expression of
the Jewish soul, allows us ro explore
Jewish diversity as never before.

Case in point: the Modzitz home-
page, which spotlights an intriguing
Chasidic group known for its musical (
contributions over almost two cen-
turies.
The Modzitz dynasty, now based in
Israel, began with Reb Yechezkel of
Kuzmir, a Polish rabbi in the early
1800s. From the beginning, the

lected more than 6,000 signatures on a cyber-petition to Iran's representa-
tive at the United Nations, urging Teheran to release the imprisoned Jews.
There are also quick links to news about the crisis, a discussion forum and
even the official e-mail address of Mohammad Khatami, president of the
Islamic Republic of Iran — though it's unlikely Khatami sits up nights, reading
his e-mail from around the world.
