KUDOS Hospice of Michigan recently presented Temple Israel Rabbi M. Robert Syme with the Crystal Rose Award at the 14th annual Crystal Rose Ball held at the Dearborn Inn. Rabbi Syme was one of four reli- gious leaders honored for Outstanding Servant Leadership. His son, Rabbi Daniel Syme of Temple Beth El, gave the invocation at the event attended by more than 400. Nancy Gershenson is presi- dent of Hospice of Michigan Women's Council. Alyssa Martina, publisher of Metro Parent Publishing Group, was one of six recipients of Black Family Development's Humanitarian Award at the annual president's dinner. Martina was recognized for her contribution to families, youth and the Detroit com- munity. Martina launched the African American Parent magazine in April. "As a Jewish woman and business leader, I am delighted by the opportunity to work closely with both the Jewish and African-American communities," said Martina. Architects Kenneth Neumann and Joel Smith of Neumann/Smith & Associates in Southfield won an award design from the Michigan Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
