United Way
Funds For JFS

Jewish Family Service, a licensed outpa-
tient clinic that provides social and men-
tal health services to people of all ages,
has received $796,421 from United Way
Community Services — a 2.5 percent
increase over last year's allocation.
The funds, raised during the United
Way Torch Drive, will enable JFS to
provide services to the community's
most vulnerable residents.
United Way funding to JFS is ear-
marked for children and youth in crisis;
abuse and neglect; family and individual
counseling; emergency hunger and
homelessness; health care; housing; older
adults; the unemployed and underem-
ployed.
"These allocations are possible
because the people of this community
are about their friends and neighbors in
need. They generously gave to the 1998
Torch drive to support the essential ser-
vices provided by agencies like the
Jewish Family Service," said UWCS
president and CEO Virgil Carr.
JFS has offices in Southfield and
West Bloomfield.
