I
n life, Alexandra Graham
touched those around her
in a way that seemed to
inspire goodness. Since her
death on Jan. 25 of this year
from osteogenic sarcoma, a form
of bone cancer, the 17-year-old
West Bloomfield resident has
made more of a difference than
she might have thought possible.
Knowing she was dying, the
West Bloomfield High School
senior made known that the best
way to honor her memory would
be through performing mi tzvot.
Yet Alex's request has resulted not
only in the helpful acts them-
selves but in instilling in others a
greater understanding of why
•
people need to help each other.
During Alex's• last months,
people seemed drawn to look out
for her. The owner of a clothing
store in West Bloomfield opened
before regular hours to alter her
jeans after her leg was amputat-
ed; a stranger with one leg came
to visit at her bedside.
About every three weeks dur-
ing her illness, Alex found a new
