respects, he was committed to ail fili-

Where Netanyahu stumbled was
in the realm of personal relations.
The Jerusalem Post remarked editori-
/ally that the most mysterious chap-
ter in Bibi's stewardship is, "How
did the supposed consummate
politician manage to lose the confi-
dence of so many leaders in his own
party despite their agreement with
his basic goals?" Perhaps the answer
lies in Netanyahu's fragile coalition.
The New York Times refers to it as

DETROIT FRIENDS OF CHAI LIFELINE/CAMP SIMCHA

Camp Simcha is a summer program for
Jewish children with cancer and other
life threatening diseases.

Ehud Barak: No change?

ry. Ehud Barak, Israel's most decorat-
ed military leader, is nor likely to stray
too much afield from the course
charted by his predecessor. Both
Netanyahu and Barak served in Israel's
legendary commando unit Sayeret
Matkal, which among its other
exploits, stormed the Sabena airplane
en route to Tel Aviv.
Barak was commander of Israel's
famous Entebbe operation in which
;Netanyahu's brother Jonathan lost his
life.
Both Bibi and Barak firmly believe
in the country's military superiority;
yet the former referred repeatedly to
Israel's vulnerability in the face of
Arafat's bellicose threats, and Barak
expressed full confidence in Israel's
military prowess.
Barak once said rhat Netanyahu
'saw Israel as a "carp among barracud-
as," while he saw it as a "benign killer
whale." Barak will certainly have it
easier to cobble together a viable coali-
tion and will have greater authority ro
pursue his political and economic
objectives. H

Located in a beautiful campground
above the Delaware Rivet, it is a retreat
for very sick boys and girls from all over
the world. Many of these children come
to camp straight from hospital rooms.

for the individual campers with a one to
one camper-counselor ratio! The joy of
summer camp is overseen by a staff of
world famous pediatric oncology doc-
tors and nurses.

All expenses for these children, includ-
ing air fare is paid for by the camp.
