Her service to the community
includes the board of Women's
Department, Jewish Federation, where
she has been a co-chair of both
phonagift and Super Sunday cam-
paigns. She is also a board member of
Detroit Friends of the Jewish
Theological Seminary and was its 1998
scholar in residence chair. A life mem-
ber of Hadassah and Jewish Women
International, she is past president of
the Golda Meir Chapter. Balkin has
also been involved in the Detroit
Friends of Bar-Ilan University and new
leadership of Israel Bonds.
Balkin and her fellow officers will
be installed 11:30 a.m. Monday, June
14, at a luncheon at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. Rabbi Groner will be
installing officer.
Vice presidents will be Karen Katz
and Diane Wyner, fund raising; Jacqui
Elkus and Sue Terebelo, program;
Sharon Berry and Brenda Glickman,
membership; Shirley Ruzumna, social.
Other officers are Cindy Shaffran, trea-
surer; Marlene Margolis, assistant trea-
surer; Betsy Wolf, corresponding secre-
tary; Bobbi Borman, assistant corre-
sponding secretary; Joanne Robinson
and Beverly Stone, financial secretaries;

Musical Interlude with Cantor Chaim
Najman," will feature a tribute to
Cantor Sidney and Esther Rube. Cost
