r. Steven Bolton is like
the mailman who goes
for a walk on his day
off.
A general surgeon at St. Joseph
Mercy Oakland Hospital in
Pontiac, he carries out his com-
mitment- to the medical profes-
sion by handling a full schedule
of patient appointments weekly
and performing 10 to 12 surg-
eries, ranging from gall bladders
and spleens to appendectomies
and hernias.
But instead of spending his
spare time playing golf or tennis,
participating in activities with his
wife and four children, or just
relaxing, Dr. Bolton continues to
see patients and do surgeries —
for free.
In 1991, he organized Mercy
