Explore the tranquil gardens that sur-
round Cranbrook House, the circa 1908
home of the Booth family, Cranbrook's
founders. The estate grounds feature for-
mal gardens, sculpture, fountains, mean-
dering paths and lakes. Stroll through the
woods at your leisure or join a guided
tour that takes you through the formal gardens,
bog garden, herb garden, wild-flower garden and
the newly restored oriental garden. Tours of the
Arts and Crafts-style Albert Kahn-designed home
also are available. Self-guided garden tours, daily
May-August, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sundays, 11 a.m.-5
p.m. Adults, $5; seniors and students, $4. Guided
tours are offered on Thursdays, June 17-Sept. 30
and on Sundays, June 6-Sept. 26 at 1:30 p.m.
Reservations are required. Adults, $6;

is for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at Meadow Brook

This summer, the DSO is offering five weekends of music under
the stars at the -Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rbchester Hills.
The 15 concerts include programs for fathilies on Fridays, classi-
cal music on Saturdays and pops concerts on Sundays. Highlights
include violinist Pinchas Zukerman performing the Bruch G
Minor Concerto; Burt Bachrach on July 11; and soprano Audra
McDonald on July 25. The schedule:
