Families with young children will
get a free car seat safety check cour-
tesy of several community organiza-
tions, 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 16,
at the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Building of the Jewish Community
Center in Oak Park.
Parents are asked to drive their
cars, with children aboard, to the
JCC so that certified inspectors can
check for proper installation of car
seats and for an appropriate fit for
the child placed in the seat.
Sponsors of the safety check are
the Sinai Hospital Guild, Metro
Detroit Safe Kids Coalition, Jewish
Community Center, the
Neighborhood Project, Detroit
Medical Center/Sinai/Grace and the
Oak Park Department of Public
Safety.
Space is limited and pre-registra-
tion is necessary by June 11. Call

Names Officers

Sharon Alterman was elected presi-
dent of Congregation Beth Shalom.
Other officers elected were
Richard Polk, executive vice presi-
dent; Dr. David Kirsch, first vice

Reform Synagogues Bestow Honors

The Metropolitan Detroit Federation
of Reform Synagogues Fund for
Reform Judaism will bestow awards at
an hors d'oeuvres and dessert reception
7 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at Temple
Israel. Each of the Reform congrega-
tions in the Detroit metropolitan com-
munity will honor outstanding mem-
bers with the Lamed Vav Award.
Funds raised by this event provide for

ship programs, sup-
port the Israel
Religious Action
Center, camping
programs for young
people and develop-
ment of educational
programs.
