Beth Shalom
Dedicates Center

Congregation Beth Shalom will dedicate
its new education center and wall of
honor during Shavuot services 9 a.m.
Saturday, May 22.
Before opening the center in
September 1998, the congregation rent-
ed space from Berkley Schools. More
than 220 students are enrolled in the
congregational school, 38 in the high
school program.
The public dedication ceremonies
will recognize the 400 contributors to
the synagogue's capital campaign, many
from outside the synagogue member-
ship.
Speaking at the program will be
Rabbi David Nelson; Mark Goldsmith,
president of the synagogue; and
Shoshana Ben-Ozer, director of the reli-
gious school.
Students and teachers will be recog-
nized. Children in kindergarten through
grade seven will lead prayers throughout
the services.
The new education center will dis-
play 93 tiles on Jewish themes designed
by the children who participated in the„
building fund with small charitable gifts
and monies from their b'nai and b'not
mitzvah celebrations. Letters from the
students about their new religious school
will be exhibited.
Following services, guests will tour
the children's classrooms decorated for
the holiday A kiddush will follow.
