Family aLbUm Happy Mover's Da To honor some great moms, we invited readers to send in favorite pictures showing chi dren and their mothers. #1) Bram Stone with mom, Lisa Rowinski "This photo was taken in the home of Aunt Suzanne in Longmeadow, Mass., where the family gathered to celebrate Passover," writes Bram's grandfather, Marcel Hal- berstadt of Farmington Hills. "It was quite a houseful, with as many as 20 around the table for the seders. But we all had a great time. Bram, who just turned 9 months, is a great little long- distance traveler and never. fussed during the 1 3-hour-long drive each way from Southfield to Longmead- ow and back. And he was safely strapped in his child seat all the way, because Lisa won't let the car move an inch until Bram is safely and comfortably in his har- ness. "Bram enjoys going to his play 5/7 1999 75 Detroit Jewish News group with Lisa every week and is learning to play with others in the group. He is very active and crawls everywhere faster than the adults can keep up with him. He also likes to go shopping with his mom and sits quietly in the shopping cart, holding on to the cart handle with his little fists and looking avidly at everything going on around him. "He's a happy kid! Lisa, who decid- ed to take a break from her social work to be a full-time mother, is per- fecting a skill that will be very useful to her when she returns to work and will allow her to be even more help- ful to others: She is an interpreter for the deaf and is honing her skills in American Sign Language. "It's probably obvious that this letter comes from a proud grandfather ('Opa' to Bram, whose Hebrew name is Avrohom Meier) and father of Lisa. Grandmother Lucille is equally proud, and it's really at her urging that we're sending this photo." #2) Jacob Shecter with mom, Sandy Shecter "This is a picture of me and my son Jacob. His nickname is Coby, which is the nickname used in Israel for Jacob. This picture was taken in March 1999 at Coby's second- grade model seder at Hillel Day School." Mom says she enjoys exercising and needlepoint. "I started needle- pointing for Coby's first-grade siddur cover and now really enjoy it." Coby loves sports, especially hock-. ey, and plays mite ice hockey. "I loved the model seder," Mom says, "because it brings me such pleasure to see my son learn, grow and sing, sing, sing as a Jew." #3)Emily Einhorn with mom, Donna "My favorite Jewish tradition is help- ing my mom prepare the kitchen and help with the cooking for Passover," writes Emily Einhorn of Oak Park. "We love having lots of family join us at our seder, which includes my two aunts from Detroit, my other aunt from Chicago, and my grand- parents from Florida. All my cousins help me find the afikomen that my grandpa hides every year. This year, Madalyn, at age 2-1/2, found it!" #4)Janice, Ari and Sally Scharg "This photo was taken in Decem- ber 1988, our second trip to Israel," write Ari and Sally Scharg of West Bloomfield. "This was taken in the Cardo, in the Old
