Done in our bus group died suddenly.
We were also touched when other
members of our bus renewed their
wedding vows at Masada after 27
years of marriage.
But most of all, I was able for the
first time to hug my aunt who
immigrated to Israel after surviving
the Holocaust. My daughter and I
had lunch with my 90-year-old aunt
and were moved by the fact that
there were four generations sitting
around the kitchen table, eating
Russian food from recipes remem-
bered and now repeated. Like so
many others in our group, we re-
established connections with family
in Israel.
To remove one experience from
the whole is impossible. My experi-
ence is one that will always be felt
with a sense of connection and pride
in my family, our Jewish people and
what they have accomplished.
I became aware of my feelings
and values as never before with a
sense of renewed pride. P
