FILM AWARDS
Aaron Berman, a senior at
Andover High School, will present a
short video he created for Gilda's
Club at its annual fundraiser on May
19. Aaron has received several film
awards this year. He will receive a
Student Emmy award, given by the
Michigan Chapter of the National
Academy of Arts and Sciences, at the
Local Emmys presentation May 22 at
Masonic Temple.
Aaron was chosen one of 18 out-
standing high school seniors in the
state in the category of Technical
Education by the Detroit News, in
cooperation with the Michigan Dept.
of Education. He also won a Best of
Show award at the Detroit Area Film
and Television's Michigan Student
Film and Video Festival, May 1 at the
DIA. He will travel to Cincinnati to
receive two national awards at the
1999 Hometown Video Festival.
Adam Harry Schwartz of
Bloomfield Township has been award-
ed the Sidney I. Winer Scholarship
from the University of Michigan Film
Department to use for his summer
internship in the entertainment
industry. Adam, a 1992 graduate of
Hillel Day School and 1996 graduate
of Groves High School, plans to
intern at the movie company for
Saturday Night Live in California. He
will be a senior at U-M in the fall.
Stefanie Sasson, a junior at Detroit
Country Day School, has produced
and directed her first independent
film, Tutto Por. Set in Italy, she pro-
duced the film while studying last
summer at the University of
California, Los Angeles.
